SCHOOL SUPPLIES DONATED BY LOCAL REALTORS
 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 8/5/2015 DICKERSON & NIEMAN REALTORS ANNOUNCES $1800 WAS RAISED TO PURCHASE AND DONATE SCHOOL SUPPLIES LOCALLY.  The five offices of Dickerson & Nieman Realtors and their agents and staff worked together to collect $1800 in funds.  The funds were used to purchase school supplies. These supplies have been equally distributed to the Belvidere, Rockford and South Beloit school districts. This is an annual program that the Realtors and staff participate in through cash donations or deductions from their pay. MACHESNEY PARK — Courtney Crenshaw is a top-notch student who is confident that she'd like to enter the nursing profession.Just in case her aspirations falter, she's checking out as many Career Lunches that Harlem High School's ninth-grade campus is offering this academic year.She was among 30 ninth-graders to attend a lunch featuring professionals from the business and financial field."I still have a long time to go," said the 15-year-old, who considers it wise to seek out information about careers she may find more interesting or realistic.
The students were able to ask questions of representatives from Carz R Us, Rock Valley Credit Union, Raymond James Financial Group, Dickerson & Nieman Realtors and the Rock Valley College business program.
The teens were most inquisitive about how professionals would address certain challenges on the job, how they chose their careers and the type of education they needed.
"I knew I wanted to be in sales," Realtor Brad Shields said. "I knew I wanted to be my own boss. You can make as much money as you want, and it's usually dictated by how much you work."
English teacher Rachel Warren launched Career Lunches last fall. She surveyed about 600 students to learn about their interests and has been convening Career Lunches once a month. Professionals from the medical, public service, information and computer systems fields already have been featured.
Warren has been pleased with the turnout, considering the students' young ages. However, "we have to work harder to promote (to) students who have never come."

Rockford Area Apprenticeship Opportunities
The Rockford Area Plumbing, Pipefitting and Refrigeration Joint Apprenticeship Committee will be accepting applications for apprenticeship on the following dates from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
Wednesday, October 1, 2014 and Wednesday, October 8, 2014
Wednesday, November 5, 2014 and Wednesday, November 12, 2014
Wednesday, December 3, 2014 and Wednesday, December 10, 2014
Wednesday, January 7, 2015 and Wednesday, January 14, 2015
REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO FILLING OUT APPLICATION
- Must be 17 years of age to apply and 18 years of age by March 2015
- Must be a High School Graduate or have earned a G.E.D. before you apply
- Must have passed one year of standard high school Algebra (GED meets requirement)
REQUIREMENTS - DAY OF APPLICATION

Cashier's Check or Money Order payable to JATC for $20.00 (non-refundable application fee)

*Valid/current driver's license or State issued ID card

Transcripts in unopened officially sealed school envelope or GED results. If applicant is unable to bring transcripts on date of application, they must be submitted unopened, with official seal, or faxed directly from your school or GED office to the training department (fax 815-397-8912) and be received no later than the last day of the month in which you apply.

Any trade-related training and experience-supporting documentation must be submitted no later than the last day of the month in which you apply.
If all of the above requirements are met within the specified time frames, applicants will take aptitude test in February. Those applicants earning a 60% or above on the test will be scheduled for an interview in March.
