Each summer, the Rockford Park District sponsors the Sounds of Summer. This free concert and performance series is located at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell, Nicholas Conservatory and Levings Park. The series presents a diverse group of entertainers and is comprised of "Tunes on the Terrace" at Nicholas Conservatory, "Live at Levings" and "Domingo en el Parque" at Levings Park and the "Charlotte's Web Summer Concerts" and "Imagination Station" matinees at the Sinnissippi Music Shell as well as Music in the Park also at the Sinnissippi Music Shell. Tunes on the Terrace Come relax and listen to local musicians every Wednesday night through August 7th on the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens outdoor terrace. You'll enjoy a variety of music styles from jazz to folk, country to Latin and more. All concerts are free so bring family and friends and don't forget a lawn chair or blanket. Dickerson and Nieman is proud that he Rockford area has so much to offer nature lovers! The Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens brings the tropics to the Midwest. The facility is the third largest conservatory in Illinois and is located along the banks of the Rock River. The 22,000 square-foot conservatory includes an 11,000 square foot plant exhibition with water features, sculptures, seating areas all in a tropical plant setting. Seasonal floral displays are also featured as well as educational programs where children can learn the importance of plants. The Conservatory also hosts lecture series and special workshops and it also is the perfect place for events like business meetings, weddings and receptions. Field trips to the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens are also available allowing children to learn about this tropical paradise in the heart of Rockford! Special events are scheduled throughout the year including April's "Butterfly Month" which returns this year from April 2-28....
