Rockford 11-year old Emily Bear to perform with Rockford Symphony Orchestra
Recently Forbes listed Rockford on its annual list of most miserable places to live. Perhaps they haven't visited Rockford recently. Rockford has so much to offer and is a regional center for the arts, culture, shopping, politics, health care and jobs. The Coronado Performing Arts Center, Anderson Gardens, the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, the Discovery Center, the Burpee Museum of Natural History, the Laurent House, Klehm Arboretum, Tinker Swiss Cottage and other sites have received national acclaim and are part of what makes Rockford great!
Rockford is home to big city amenities and small town generosity and friendliness as well as sports, outstanding restaurants and music including the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. The Rockford Symphony Orchestra is one of the leading cultural institutions in Northern Illinois, performing over twenty classical and pops concerts annually.
Rockford is also the home of 11-year old pianist and composer Emily Bear. Emily has only been playing piano for six years, but at just eleven years old, her accomplishments are inspiring and her talent is breathtaking. Emily was the youngest solo performer in the history of the Ravinia Festival, has performed with many well-known musicians, appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" six times and performed at the White House.
Emily will be performing with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra on March 9th during their Tribute to Big Bands. The tribute will feature the music of Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller and Rockford's own Emily Bear. Tickets are still available for Saturday's performance.
