According to gorockford.com, Davis Park at Founders Landing marks the site where Rockford's cultural and industrial heritage began. Its seven acres are bordered by the Rock River and two major streets in downtown Rockford. It also features numerous paved walks and numerous parking lots. Founders Landing is significant to Rockford's heritage because it was this area along the edge of the Rock River where early settlers crossed the river at a rocky ford which existed near where Kent Creek and the Rock River come together.
