On August 27th following the tragic traffic
accident involving a high-speed chase of August 20th the Rockford community lost attorney Karen S. Williams. Today her local high school alumni association to which she devoted and committed her time and talents, The Jefferson High School Alumni Association, has released the following statement and information.
Karen S. Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund
Karen Williams was the founder of the Jefferson High School Alumni Association along with popular Facebook groups
"Growing Up in Rockford" and the
"J-Hawks Nest". One of JHSAA's primary goals is the development of a scholarship fund for a student in need. The decision to honor Karen's work and vision by naming the Fund after her was made shortly after her tragic death on August 27th.
Jerry Moors from the Jefferson High School Class of '76 has issued a challenge to the community and has pledged to match all private donations up to $2,500 over the next 60 days (through November 13th, 2014). We look forward to not only the Jefferson High School Community, but the Rockford Community as a whole stepping up to Jerry's Challenge.
