I can confidently say that choosing to start my real estate career with Dickerson Nieman was the most important decision that I have made. When I made the decision that I wanted to work in the industry I did not discuss it with my family, my friends, or any of my peers. I wanted to consult a professional with my questions about getting into real estate. I decided to call Dickerson and Nieman. The Dickerson and Nieman staff directed me to what class I needed to take and explained the startup costs for real estate. The best suggestion that the staff gave me was to study in the office. From the first week of class through my final I made it my routine to spend a few hours in the office working on my classwork and test preparation. I benefitted from this in two ways. Primarily, when I needed help with schoolwork I could ask agents or managers that were in the office and they could explain the problem with real life experiences. Second, it provided a jump start to being a real estate agent without even noticing it. The first day that I was a licensee I did not have to hook up to printers, find where materials are held, or learn my surroundings. I was building relationships with agents. However, the most important benefit from studying in the office was indirectly training myself to be there to work. I was spending more time in the office than some full time agents before I even entered the new agent mentor program which translated to me bei ng ready to work. Working with my mentor during my first few showings, contracts, and open houses taught me more than any informational video or paper can teach. I know that there are companies that provide classes and mentors for a limited number of deals. At Dickerson and Nieman, I have a mentor to oversee my business for an entire year. On top of that, we also have new agent classes that are hosted by experienced agents. We vary topics every week from preparing for a new listing down to how a home inspection works. I am the youngest agent in our company, thus customers have asked how much experience I have. I reply to them saying that I have over a hundred years of experience because of the support that our staff gives me. I am not limited to asking my mentor questions. The staff appreciates each other and want each agent to perform to their highest potential, and that includes the 23 year old rookie. I assure my clients that I am backed, in terms of experience, by the choice I made to work for the most successful real estate company in Rockford since 1998. I learn something every day by listening to other agents telling stories or talking about their current situations. Experience comes with time but I find myself relating to these stories in my business which helps me handle them in the most professional way. I am proud to say that I made the top producer's list my third month working here, however, I can almost guarantee that Dickerson and Nieman was the platform for my success. I have all of the tools and knowledge available for my use. I chose to take full advantage of these in order to reach my goals.
