An agent sent me a message today about a contest that I'd like to get behind! I had never heard of Levitt Pavilions, so I took a look at their site: levittpavilions.org.
From their site:
LEVITT PAVILIONS is the national nonprofit organization behind the
largest free concert series in America. We're passionate about reinvigorating America's public spaces through creative placemaking and creating opportunities for everyone to experience the performing arts. The need for more
third places—those informal gathering spots outside the realms of home and the workplace—has become increasingly clear in today's world and guides us in our community-driven efforts. Our goal is to
reflect the best of American city life by creating community and social interaction among people of all ages and backgrounds; empowering cities across America to reclaim green spaces and reinvigorate public spaces; and ensuring the performing arts are accessible to all through high quality, free concerts.
Why Levitt?
Community-driven: Whether through the signature Levitt program or the Levitt AMP [Your City] Grant Awards, Levitt's creative placemaking projects are driven by local leaders, engaged citizens and the philanthropic and business communities.
Embracing the local: Levitt concerts engage a town or city's character of life and reflects local tastes.
Consistent activation: Signature Levitt venues are available for use when the Levitt concert series isn't taking place, providing the community and other local nonprofits with a state-of-the-art outdoor venue for additional music events, theatrical performances, community programs and private functions.
Magnet for community: A Levitt site becomes a thriving hub where people of all ages and backgrounds come together—a place where
audience members and volunteers, community partners and local sponsors gather to celebrate their community.
