Rockford: Where to Go for Cinnamon Rolls
They say variety is the spice of life, but actually, it's cinnamon. It makes almost everything better. November 1st is National Cinnamon Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a fresh, warm, gooey cinnamon roll? If you're looking at Rockford homes for sale, there are plenty of great places in the area where you can go for all different types of cinnamon rolls. Here are a few of our favorites.

At Banana Cherry Bakery, you'll want to try the cinnamon croissant. Dozens of buttery, flaky layers, rolled up with cinnamon and spices inside and covered in gooey icing. It's the best of both pastries rolled into one. They also serve Danishes, pain au chocolat, donuts, cupcakes, and a variety of other baked treats for breakfast, lunch, or dessert. - Crust & Crumbles - 116 N. Crust & Crumbles offers a couple of different options for getting your cinnamon fix. Their regular cinnamon roll is huge and beautiful, crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and slathered in cream cheese frosting. Or you can try their Morning Bun—another cinnamon roll/croissant hybrid, this one made with orange zest. They also serve a variety of other sweet and savory pastries, including scones, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast pizza, and more. - Quixotic Bakery - 116 N. Madison St., Rockford, IL 61107
The mission of Quixotic Bakery is to employ local youth—to provide them with work experience and help them earn extra money—while at the same time serving delicious baked goods to the Rockford area. They have a permanent location in the Indoor City Market and a food truck at the North End City Market that sells everything from cookies to ice cream to cake in a jar and more. But one of the things they're most famous for is their Cinnamon Roll Cake. Perfect for parties, it's 9 inches around and big enough to feed a small group. They have a regular version and a holiday version available around Christmas. - Stockholm Inn - 2420 Charles St., Rockford, IL 61108
A Swedish-style restaurant, Stockholm Inn serves a delicious cinnamon roll covered in frosting. They also serve cardamom rolls, topped with toasted sesame seeds, as well as traditional Swedish coffee cake, which has a similar look and texture. All are served fresh and hot from their bakery and can be eaten in the restaurant or taken to go. They also have a variety of other amazing items, from Swedish pancakes (similar to French crepes) with lingonberries to stuffed French toast to Kroppkakor—traditional fried potato dumplings. A great place for breakfast or lunch, they combine traditional Swedish fare with delicious local Rockford offerings. - Doughboys Donuts - 3451 N. Main St., Rockford, IL 61103
Donuts are their specialty, but Doughboys Donuts has a lot more to offer, including a wide variety of cinnamon rolls. Try them plain, with nuts, or with frosting, or check out their maple cinnamon roll. They also have almond rolls, rose rolls, bear claws, apple fritters, and much more. Buy them individually, or get them by the dozen. Then top it off with their signature Caramel Macchiato or French Vanilla Cappuccino.
