If cooking with fresh produce is one of your favorite things to do in the summer, the Rockford area has several local farmers markets where you can stock up on your favorite fruits and vegetables grown right here in Illinois. Farmers from all over the state travel to local Rockford markets to sell fresh produce and other goods, so you can find the freshest and best produce around. - Rockford City Market - Water Street and East State Street, Rockford, IL 61104
Farmers, growers, and vendors from within a 150-mile radius of Rockford set up shop at Rockford City Market every Friday throughout the summer. The market runs from 4 to 8:30 p.m. through Labor Day and until 7:30 p.m. after Labor Day. You'll find handmade products, vegetables, fruit, flowers, baked goods, wine, condiments, crafts, and much more. Sample foods, have a drink, or enjoy live music. There are also fun and free activities for kids and some beautiful Rockford homes for sale just down the road. - Rockton River Market -Â 200 E. Hawick St., Rockton, IL 61072
Great music and plenty of shopping can be found at Rockton River Market, conveniently located near these amazing Rockton homes for sale. This community event takes place every Wednesday from June to August, and it's a great place to pick up local produce or meet your neighbors. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. - Edgebrook Farmers Market - 1639 N. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 61107
You'll find fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants, baked goods, sweets, honey, crafts, and so much more at the Edgebrook Farmers Market. With so much to choose from, you'll have no trouble stocking your kitchen each week. This is Rockford's oldest farmers market, and there are between 20 and 25 vendors on hand. The market takes place every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May through October. - Forest City Farmers Market -1280 S. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 61108
The Forest City Church sponsors this market, and it takes place every Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May to October. Forest City Farmers Market has a nice variety of vendors, so you can shop for fresh produce, handmade items, jewelry, cheese, and more. If you need fresh ingredients or a creative gift, you'll want to check out this market. - North End City Market - 1431 N. Main St., Rockford, IL 61103
This Saturday morning market is one of the best in town. This is one of the most popular places for people to get together, socialize, eat, and shop all summer long. The North End City Market takes place Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon from mid-May until mid-October.Â
