Arts & Crafts Holiday Spectacular - Rockford, IL

After a decade in existence, the Arts & Crafts Holiday Spectacular has become an eagerly awaited seasonal event. With vendor booths filling more than 25,000 square feet, you can find that special gift for everyone on your list. Don't be surprised if you find an item or two that just has to go home with you.
Mark your calendar for the weekend of 11/8. Hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and up. Check out these Loves Park homes for sale nearby.
Stroll on State - Rockford, IL

Support deserving local merchants while immersing yourself in a variety of family-friendly holiday activities with Stroll on State. This popular event coincides with Small Business Saturday during the post-Thanksgiving weekend. In addition to sales and promotions at several downtown shops and boutiques, Frosty's Merry Market offers a wide range of handcrafted items from local artisans.
Other activities include:
- The supersized Holiday Parade at 2 p.m.
- Dasher Dash 5K at noon
- Two stages of live music from 3 - 9 p.m.
- Tree lighting at 6 p.m.
Stroll on State takes place from 2 - 9 p.m. on Saturday, 11/29, and admission is free.
Festival of Lights - Rockford, IL

At the ripe old age of 36, Festival of Lights has been charming generations of families around Rockford homes for sale. In 1989, the inaugural FOL featured a modest collection of 11 displays, which has since grown to upwards of 85. Some are rented, while individuals, community organizations, and local businesses install others.
FOL takes place on select dates between 11/28 and 12/31. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Visit the website for the full schedule, including appearances by Santa Claus.
Christmas Town at Summerfield Zoo - Belvidere, IL

Each year at this time, Christmas Town at Summerfield Zoo magically appears right down the street from Belvidere homes for sale. Of course, it wouldn't be a zoo without animal viewings. Reindeer and other cold-climate animals will be frolicking outdoors, while the small mammal barn will be open to visit animals who prefer to stay warm.

Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens is a special place to visit any time of the year, but it truly shines with the All Aglow Holiday Display. More than half a million LED lights decorate the grounds, joining 99 pole trees and several new mega-stars.Â
Lights are on dusk until dawn from Saturday, 11/29 through Sunday, 1/11. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
