Rockford has plenty to offer year-round, but the summer months are especially packed with events and experiences you won't want to miss. If you have a bucket list, now is the time to add to it! Our real estate agents are excited to share some of their favorite summer activities in the Rockford area.
From May 15 to August 28, Rockford City Market takes place every Friday from 4 - 8:30 p.m. It's concentrated under the main pavilion downtown, with vendors spreading out into the surrounding streets. You'll find everything here, from local produce to baked goods to handmade crafts.
There's also live music at the City Market! This year's weekly themes include:
Midsommar is a traditional Swedish celebration of summer, and Rockford has its very own Midsommar Fest, scheduled for Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Admission is free, with activities for all ages. Dance around the maypole, listen to live music, shop for antiques, and enjoy delicious food from local vendors.
Midsommar Fest is organized by the Swedish Historical Society, and proceeds go to benefit this organization. This year's bake sale is sure to be a hit with Swedish baked goods like cardamom buns and chokladbollar, traditional chocolate-oat treats often rolled in coconut or pearl sugar.
Phantom Regiment Show of Shows is a drum corps event that promises an exciting night of music and precision marching. The show takes place at Swanson Stadium at Guilford High School. Phantom Regiment is hosting the performance, but there will also be several other notable drum corps taking the stage, including The Cavaliers and The Blue Stars. Even the BANDtastic! Middle School Honor Band will make an appearance.
Phantom Regiment Show of Shows is scheduled for July 3, 2026. Tickets are available online, with prices varying by seat selection.
Whether you love throwing pottery or just admiring clay creations, Rockford Clay Fest at Inferno Clay Studio is an event you won't want to miss. It's scheduled for Saturday, June 27, from noon - 6 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
At Rockford Clay Fest, you'll get to watch several artists demonstrate how they create their pieces. There is also a Ceramic Artist Market where you can purchase handmade items, as well as a display of creations by local students in grades K-12.
Head over to Lyran Park for one of the most exciting musical events of the year. The 17th Annual Crossroads Blues Festival is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, with doors opening at 11 a.m. Bands will be on stage from noon until 8 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 in advance or $20 at the gate, and admission is free for those under 18.
